The Greek FireCorps sets its Forces on Operational Readiness – Stage 2 for tomorrow Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in the areas where a Very High Fire Risk (Risk Category 4) is anticipated according to the Daily Fire Risk Map issued earlier today by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
These areas are:
Region of Attica
Region of Northern Aegean (islands of Lemnos and Lesvos)
Region of Peloponnese (Carinthia, Argolis)
Region of Central Greece (Evia, Viotia, Island of Skyros)
Region of Western Greece (Achaia, Ilia)
Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Evros, island of Samothraki).
The FC Action Plan measures will include, inter alia, restriction of vehicle traffic and settling into national parks, forests and “vulnerable” areas. Air surveillance patrols and mixed patrols will be also organised by the Fire Corps, the Police and Military Forces.
The Fire Department calls on citizens to be extremely careful, avoid any activity that could cause a fire outburst, keep track of forest fire prevention information available on the website and official accounts of the Fire Corps, in facebook and twitter and for their own safety in the event of a fire immediately notify the Fire Corps dialing 199, or the European Emergency Number 112 and follow closely the authorities’ instructions.
